Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival selected as Top 20 Event

The 37th Annual Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival has been selected as one of Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events.

This award winning, long standing arts festival hosted by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau attracts nearly 400 vendors from around the continent that display everything from the finest pottery, paintings, jewelry, and sculptures to woodwork, metal work, and handmade tile pieces.

The annual festival makes a significant contribution to developing the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a regional arts destination. The event has grown to become known as the largest fine arts festival in the state attracting an attendance in excess of 120,000 to the local area.  In 2011, the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development in partnership with the Mississippi State University Extension Service, worked to determine the economic impact totaling $23 million to the local economy confirming that the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival serves both as a tool to bring in new revenue into the community, but also serves to enhance the culture of the region.

The Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Events publication receives extensive exposure in print media, web, and television and radio in the U.S. and Canada.  Over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, AAA’s and others receive the listings.  Top 20 Events are listed on the Southeast Tourism Society website at www.southeasttourism.org.  Top 20 festivals are also listed on www.travelmediapressroom.com where travel writers explore for stories in relation to destinations, festivals and events.
